Peek behind the magic with this special access Broadway tour

With our friendly team of 'Broadway Insiders', you’ll tour all the top sights of the theatre district. Visit iconic Times Square to learn of its unlikely history; hear how Sardi’s restaurant amassed its impressive collection of famous characters (and a Tony Award to boot!); and hear the histories of top stages like Shubert Theatre, where Barbara Streisand entered as an unknown and left as a star.

Your guide will teach you what daily life is like for the actors, directors and crew that work around the clock to make Broadway shows a reality - so that you’re well prepped for the highlight of our Broadway tour: A special access visit to the New Amsterdam Theatre.

An Exclusive Visit At The Historic New Amsterdam Theatre.

For one full hour you’ll have the run of Disney's New Amsterdam Theatre. Here you’ll be joined by the theatre’s own historian (and his set of keys). Together you’ll explore the theatre; seeing its beautiful stage outside of show time and hearing details of what it takes to stage a show like Aladdin or Mary Poppins; from conception through to closing night (hint: It’s a little more than a spoonful of sugar.)

For an extra sprinkle of magic, you’ll visit the Costumes and Props Studio*, where you’ll find treasures untold - props and set pieces from past Broadway shows; like the Little Mermaid's giant seashell and Mary Poppins' iconic outfit.

Get the inside scoop from our Broadway Insiders

Of course the secret to any production’s success is the people behind it. From Florenz Ziegfeld’s pen to Idina Menzel’s voice, Broadway was built on talent - so it’s only fitting that your tour should be too.

Throughout your Broadway tour you’ll be accompanied by one of our handpicked Broadway Insiders. Part tour guide, part performer, they come from the ranks of the initiated. Actors, crew, theatre directors; they’ve been there and done that so they’re just the people to give you the inside scoop.

Throughout your time together you’ll have an audio headset to ensure that you don’t miss an ounce of their Disney trivia or Broadway gossip. You’ll also hear snippets of audio from live Broadway shows for that extra sprinkle of Disney magic.

*Important Note:

Due to ongoing preparations of the New Amsterdam Theatre for the premiere of Frozen on Broadway, from November 20 2016 through January 2017, the costume room access will be replaced by an actual backstage experience. The backstage area of Broadway theatres has been off limits to public tours for decades, and hasn’t been accessed by the public in the New Amsterdam in nearly a century. After January 2017 guests will once again have access to Disney Theatrical’s collection of costumes and props, but in the orchestra section of the theatre rather than the studio.

Our guide, Jeremy, was great. He not only knew the history of the theaters but was kind enough to share his acting experience with my daughter who wants to study acting. Really appreciate his perspective and the realities of living in New York. Really enjoyed the New Amsterdam. Great tour.

Jeff was the perfect guide. Only comment is the description of the event gave me the impression that we would see more of the actual backstage workings - lighting, sets, etc will recommend to friends

I loved the tour and Jeffrey the tour guide who was so knowledgeable and friendly. If I had any feedback at all it would be that we spent quote a while at the first location in Time Square as we learned some amazing history about Broadway. I would have preferred to move away from that first location slightly earlier with the tour guide incorporating some of those stories into our other stops. But that is a minor suggestion to what was a great tour.

Ben was a wonderful tour guide and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to see/try on the costumes.
Great tour for all Broadway enthusiasts! Jeff shared a lot of fun insider tales and facts about Broadway musicals (both old & current). 2/3 of the tour was outdoors walking from theater to theater in Times Square, and the other 1/3 was inside the New Amsterdam Theatre (Such a treat to see the Disney costumes/props up close). It was a chilly November morning when we attended this tour, so I recommend dressing appropriately for outdoors.

Porter was a very competent guide but often had to refer to her binder for notes, she was excellent one-on-one as she spoke with us during the walking portion of the tour. Our daughter is a budding performer and I know she enjoyed talking with Porter about the industry. The New Amsterdam Theatre tour was awesome!

I am so glad I selected this tour. It was very informative, entertaining, and I recommend to anyone visiting New York, especially if you are in New York to experience a show on Broadway. The only suggestion and the other attendees commented, the location meeting area is not very defined and there are so many other tours, someone could get in the wrong tour.

So many people around so would better use microphone or earphone so that we can hear clearly. And need break time or shade break for hot weather

It was wonderful. Ben was friendly and knowledgeable and that surprise tour of Sardi's was such a great NYC moment. The Amsterdam theater is beautiful and my daughter loved every moment she had with the costumes.
Great fun and info.
My husband, daughter and I took the Disney Behind the Magic Tour on June 21, 2016 with Joe. Joe was fabulous! He was very knowledgeable. He also talked loud enough so we could all hear even with the construction going on. He was attentive to everyone on the tour. Taking time to talk one on one with everyone. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in theater or Disney!
We loved this tour! Even as a New Yorker, I learned so much about the Theater District. Benjamin was an amazing guide - full of insight and stories. A highlight for my grandson, who is off to college as a musical theater major, was the Disney prop room at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Will definitely recommend this tour!

My fifteen year old daughter and I loved our Walks of Broadway tour. Besides the actual shows we saw, it was the favorite thing we did while in NYC. Our guide, Ben, was amazing! He was interesting and entertaining. Loved his personal stories.
The tour was interesting and very informative. Our daughter was thrilled to see some of the actual Broadway props in the archive room. Our guide Joe was friendly and tried to engage everyone, we thought it was strange that he went into the New Amsterdam with us but left at some point, we thought we would see him again at the end of the tour to wrap everything up but he was not there Quite honestly, we would have given him a tip but we did not see him again!
We had such a good time!
We enjoyed the tour so much. It was very informative. Joe was an interesting and wonderful guide. We would recommend it to others especially if you love the theater.
The tour was amazing. Our guide was incredible. Would love to do more Broadway tours.
Thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Stephen and Kim (guide in the New Amsterdam Theatre) Thanks!
Great tour. The guide was wonderful.
Joe was great. It is very helpful to have an actor as a guide.

I loved the Disney on Broadway tour!! Lots of great information about the transformation of the broadway area from the turn of the 20th century until now. I loved the architecture lesson at the New Amsterdam and, especially, the chance to take a peak at the Disney Theatricals archive. I would definitely recommend the tour to any Broadway or Disney fan!!
Our guide was absolutely amazing! So friendly and informative.
